Cheney is the kind of dangerous idiot whose only path to power is as an eminence grise operating behind the scenes. That is essentially what he did in the Bush Administration.

He is too frighteningly psychotic to win any national office but the vice presidency and he only managed to do that because nobody seriously paid any attention to the post until Cheney held it. Once Cheney took over the executive office building, he ended up dictating most U.S. foreign policy from it simply because his ostensible boss was a congenital half-wit.

As a stand-along presidential candidate, I doubt Cheney could even win most of the Republican vote . . .
