"S.C. Gov. Mark Sanford admitted today that his secret trip to Argentina over the Father's Day weekend was to visit a woman he has been having an affair with for the past year.
In an emotional news conference, Sanford said his relationship with the woman in Argentina would not work, but would not say if it was over. He did not name the woman, but said he met her eight years ago, although their casual friendship evolved into a romantic relationship about a year ago."

Re: Remember the Gov who was missing for 4 days? Who said it was no big deal and that his detractors were barking up the wrong tree?

Wed, July 8, 2009 - 11:27 AMI have maintained that the disappearance while demonstrating tremendous selfish impulsiveity was not so big a deal as some insisted.
So what if there was a prison break a flood or a hurricane? So what? The state has rules for how power is passed in the event the governor is dead on his crapper at home or in his hunting camp.
If he is unavailable the Lt Governor instantly steps in. -

Fri, July 10, 2009 - 9:58 AMA phone call or two and POOF the power shifts pro tem
But what possible wild and unrealistic set of events can be imagined that might actually pose a problem with an un-findable governor?
Jail Break? Hurricane? Earthquake? Invisible Flying Lizard people? Martian attack?
The governor's absence won't have an appreciable or meaningful impact on any of the above.
It was however massively irresponsible selfish and infantile to just run off like that.

Sat, July 11, 2009 - 12:57 AMI love the right wing spin machine on this, what with his being a repulblican.
Hannity frothed at the mouth when Edwards admitted an affair, claiming typical democrat immorality. When this guy did it, he claimed personal affairs were not public business. And when Clinton did it..well...
