And children are happier than adults.

I don't think this is just a coincidence.

    'Conservatives happier than liberals'?

And this is supposed to be 'news'?

    What next?

'Prison gang-rape victims less happy than prison gang-rapists'?

    Surprise surprise.

I disagree with the article, the basis for their study was a totally polarized world where voters are either left or right. I have found polarized voters to be a very unhappy, grumpy lot...left or right.

Personally I believe that moderates are the happier group.

We should expect moderates to be the happiest because they would care the least whenever there's a policy shift in either direction.

And moderates should be especially happy this year because the next US president will be one of 3 moderate candidates.

Liberals are upset because they see the world as being in the dark ages and want to bring it into enlightenment.

Conservatives ane upset because the liberals are trying to turn the world into Sodom & Gamorra.

Moderates are compromisers who look for common ground. Moderates also do a better job than the other two at honestly evaluating a concept without bias.

It is true though that the politically polarized are grumpier and uptight. I have friends who literally sit around hating Bush. My conservative friends spent 8 Clinton years strung out. Me? When someone bitches about W I can shrug it off easier because I didn;t like Clinton either, and I won;t like Obama...b ut I see the long term balance of it all.

Moderates are a more mixed group than the others. A lot of them only feel strongly about a few issues and figure that whatever the majority decides to do about the others will probably be OK. Others are suspicious of radical solutions, if not also suspicious of the motives and general thinking of people who advocate radical solutions.

It's not that we moderates don;t care, we just don't have to. We are getting what we want in most cases. The result of the fight between left and right equals middleground. You extremists do all the work, suffer the heart attacks, and we moderates enjoy the fruits. Keep up the good work!
